Florida summer doesn't ease in — it slams. The systems that survive August are the ones that got a little attention in April or May. Here's what to do, in order.

Replace the filter (and set a reminder)

Cheap, fast, biggest single-item impact. Set a phone reminder every 60–90 days.

Hose off the outdoor coil

Power off at the disconnect. Spray from the inside of the coil outward with a garden hose. Pull out lovebugs, grass, and palmetto debris.

Pour vinegar in the condensate line

A cup of white vinegar through the access tee keeps the slime down and the float switch happy.

Walk the duct registers

Vacuum dust off supply and return grilles. Make sure furniture isn't blocking returns.

Book a $45 maintenance visit before May

What you can't do yourself: capacitor and contactor testing, refrigerant pressure check, motor amperage, electrical tightening, heat-strip verification. That's the $45 residential tune-up ($75 commercial). Booking before May means we're not coming out in a heat emergency.
