What's included in a complete change-out
New outdoor condenser, new indoor air handler or coil, new line set when needed, new thermostat, refrigerant charge, permit, haul-off of the old equipment, and full startup. Duct modifications are quoted separately when the existing trunk and returns aren't sized for the new system.
What moves the price up
Higher SEER2 efficiency (the entry point is 14.3 SEER2 in the south). Variable-speed or two-stage equipment. Larger tonnage. Tight attic access. Old line sets that need replacement. Duct work that's undersized for the new capacity.
What keeps it down
Reusing a sound line set. Keeping a single-stage system on a standard thermostat. Right-sizing instead of upsizing — bigger isn't better in Florida, where dehumidification matters as much as cooling.
